Sleep & Airway Management in a Dental Clinic
December 13, 2019
Dental Sleep Medicine (DSM) has been growing rapidly over the past decade. Despite such growth, Oral Appliance Therapy (OAT) could be challenging in terms of predictability and workflow efficiency, resulting in many clinicians being reluctant to incorporate “Sleep & OAT” into their clinics. However, most of these challenges can now be addressed by utilizing new technologies in dentistry; resulting in improved and predictable clinical workflows, patient experience, quality of care and access to care.
This program will review the importance of Sleep & Airway Management in comprehensive inter-disciplinary treatment planning and how airway & sleep disorders, if left untreated, could adversely impact the long-term prognosis of dental treatments. It will also provide a practical step-by-step guide for implementing a simple & predictable“Sleep and Airway Management” program; utilizing easy to implement systems, improved patient communication & education through Intraoral scanning, & 3D imaging AND a fully digital workflow for OAT.
